Matrix Belt Conveyor

The Matrix Belt Conveyor is a new revolutionary infeed system created by EuroSort to serve the new branche of e-commerce fullfillment. Where traditional retailers have orders with around 30 articles, web shops have a very low number of articles e.g. 1,6 per order. The belt runs on a dynamic inductionsystem for the operators. They scan the article and the sorter database decides on which position the product needs to be placed so that it will be dropped at the right exit in the right pigeon hole.

More and more sales is done through the internet and many suppliers have therefore a large increase in orders; however compared to the traditional sorter applications where the average order is around 30 articles, the web shops have orders with a very low number of order‐lines e.g. 1,6 per order. These kind of orders need either a sorter with a high number of exits (space limitations) or consolidated sorting (so 1 chute with several orders in it).

What does it achieve
EuroSort thought of a way to achieve, in a relatively short sorter, a high number of destinations. In the dropping area, the section below the trays, the sorter will contain multiple exits per tray. Depending on tray size and pitch (hart to hart distance between trays) number of exits are multiplied on client specification. 

Dynamic Positioning System
EuroSort developed a so called “dynamic positioning system” for the induction operators. The operators scan the article, the sorter database will then decide in which tray in the sorter the article will be dropped and to which exit the product will be directed. The dedicated position for this article will be indicated dynamically on a area on the belt itself where the operator should deposit the article. The indication projected on the belt can be anything: the name of the operator, a name of the product, just a circle, whatever.
